LBV’s Annual Hunger Relief Campaign around the World 2015

This past Christmas, the Legion of Good Will’s Annual Hunger Relief Campaign reached new heights, making this one of the largest solidary efforts in the world! With the help of volunteers and donors, we were able to distribute nearly 2.4 million pounds of food, impacting the lives of approximately 55,000 underprivileged families around the world! The LBV’s Annual Hunger Relief Campaign is part of the LBV’s Everlasting Christmas initiative that provides year round social and educational programs in the USA and across six other countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Portugal and Uruguay. Take a glimpse at the great outreach we have achieved thanks to you below!

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Thanks to the support of several schools in the New York/New Jersey area, over 12,000 pounds of food were distributed to underprivileged families in America. This could not have been accomplished without the help of these educational institutions, volunteers, donors, and general supporters!

BOLIVIA

Beginning with prayers and breakfast, many Bolivian families participated in LBV’s Annual Hunger Relief Campaign event for the distribution of special baskets filled with food and clothes.

BRAZIL

More than 50 thousand families in Brazil alone received baskets this Christmas, with the assistance of key leaders, artists, and general support from Brazilian community members.

PARAGUAY

More than 500 baskets were distributed to families in need in the cities of Lambare, Asunción, and Ciudad del Este in Paraguay. Many of the families that received support during this Annual Hunger Relief Campaign also receive year-round support from the LBV’s Charity Round Program. With the rise in flood rates affecting the Asunción area since early December, a portion of the basket recipients consisted of flood victims in need of assistance.

PORTUGAL

In the cities of Braga, Coimbra, Porto, and Lisbon, over 2,500 baskets were distributed to families in need. It was also reported that Portuguese actress and model Sandra Cóias and actor Victor de Sousa made a presence at the distribution of baskets in Lisbon.

URUGUAY

Over six tons of nonperishable food items were delivered to families in Montevideo, Uruguay. Natalia Albornoz, one of the basket recipients from Bella Vista, commented, “We have a very complicated situation at home. I am very happy to be receiving this as a result of the collaboration of the LBV today, God bless.”
