This summer, the Boca Juniors Club USA and the city of Newark are working in partnership with the LGW-USA (Legion of Good Will), to promote a basic English learning course that will be held in the Ironbound Recreational Center. The course is expected to start on June 2nd and will be taught on Fridays with three options. Places are limited and are being offered free of charge to residents of Newark (regardless of their migratory status).
The course will be taught by educators of the LGW and aims to teach the basic elements of English with a focus on conversation. The objective is to support the immigrant community by providing them with communication tools that they can use in everyday situations, such as when they are cashing a check in the bank, sending mail via the post office or even negotiating prices at the store.
The lack of English hinders the integration of the immigrant in American culture and, in some cases, can lead to a feeling of isolation and even depression. The basic knowledge of the language guarantees greater integration in the community and open up many opportunities.
The classes will be held in the Ironbound Recreational Center, located at 226 Rome Street in Newark. To register, simply get in touch with the Club Boca Juniors by phone at 516-780-7077 or by e-mail: esl@usboca.com.
