As you bundle up in scarves, coats, and gloves preparing yourself for the frigid winter temperatures, take a moment to remember those living in the cold. Homeless families and children who have no home to return to at the end of a long day, who cannot sleep in warm comfortable beds. For these families a drop in temperature could easily turn into a matter of life and death. Exposure to the bitter cold of winter, unprepared, can lead to many illnesses that will most likely progress due to an already limited amount of resources.
The Legion of Good Will’s Charity Round program helps these socially vulnerable individuals and families, in the New York and New Jersey area, by providing warm meals, coats, and blankets every Thursday night. Those who must endure the cruel winter weather can find a sense of comfort in these materials as well as a replenished sense of hope as they begin the New Year.
