Recognitions and Awards

The Legion of Good Will has always aimed to help those in need, whether it be through providing food for less-fortunate families in shelters, supplying children with school materials, or even just imparting simple kind words, it’s the Legion’s mission to help improve the lives of others. We have been fortunate enough to receive recognition for our accomplishments and all the good work that we’ve been able to do for others. Below is a list of our awards and recognitions:

Brazilian Press Award (2009):

Held in a Conference that brings together community leaders, cultural and Brazilian medias from abroad, the purpose of this ceremony and award is to celebrate personalities, institutions and initiatives committed to artistic, cultural promotion and the positive image of Brazil. Supported by Journalist Carlos Borges, The Legion of Good Will was fortunate enough to be recognized for its contribution to the culture and efforts to helping others.

United States Census (2010):

The Legion of Good Will was recognized by the U.S. Government as a valued partner and supporter of the 2010 Census. The LBV promoted events and actions to motivate the public to complete and return the Census form for an accurate count.

Plaque of Voluntary Firemen of the White Cross (2012):

In April 2012, the Legion of Good Will (LBV) was awarded with a plaque of the Bombeiros Voluntários da Cruz Branca association, from Vila Real, Portugal. The award was bestowed because of the humanitarian services provided by the LBV of the USA, its extensive work has also developed in European countries, namely Portugal, and in Latin America.

Proclamation from Newark (2013):

The Legion of Good Will was commended with a resolution presented by the City of Newark, NJ. The recognition was brought by Claudia Garzesi on behalf of the Council member Augusto Amador. The resolution stated: “On the occasion of the anniversary of the Legion of Good Will (LBV), the Newark Municipal Council acknowledges the great work being done in our community and our City to help those who need and commends those who are part of this great organization for their commitment to serve.”

Proclamation from Orange (2014):

As a result of all of the dedication and efforts provided by the Legion of Good Will and the students apart of our Good Will Students for Peace program, the Mayor of the City of Orange, Dwayne Warren, presented a proclamation to the Legion of Good Will, and nominated June 17th as LBV’s day in Orange, New Jersey.

Spirit of Goodwill Award(2014):

In recognition of the work done by the Legion of good will (LGW) and the message of universal brotherhood in his writings, compositions and speeches, the Chief Executive Officer of the LGW, José de Paiva Netto, was honored with the international spirit of Goodwill commendation for all Nations. The delivery of the prize took place during the celebrations of the Silver Jubilee of the Temple of good will (TBV), on November 8th, in the federal capital and was awarded by Sharon Hamilton Getz, representative of the International Institute for Social development.
