During the week of October 14th 2019, The Temple of Good Will in Brasilia, Brazil will be celebrating its 30 year anniversary! The Temple of Good Will is an ecumenical monument, conceived and created by the president of the Legion of Good Will (LGW), José de Paiva Netto. It was inaugurated in October of 1989 and has become the most visited place in the city of Brasilia, receiving visits from more than one million pilgrims every year. The temple has become a mystical and spiritual icon, also earning the title as the Temple of Peace. Its doors are open day and night for those searching for a place to pray and meditate freely. The rooms within the temple combine spirituality, culture, art, ecology, and mysticism. This has even given it notoriety as many people even claim it to be one of the Seven Wonders of Brasilia.
To celebrate the 30 year anniversary, a group of Legion of Good Will staff, volunteers and friends are planning an unforgettable trip filled with festivities! The group will be traveling to Rio de Janeiro on October 14th and from there to Brasilia on October 17th, then staying until the 20th. They will visit the most-viewed tourist attractions, meet at-risk children that are supported by the LGW, and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Temple of Good Will. While in Rio de Janeiro, volunteers will have the chance to spend time preparing educational and musical activities for the children and youth that are supported by the Legion of Good Will. The group will also be supporting the children by donating musical instruments and distributing food baskets to their families.
We want you to come and join us on our trip! If any of this sounds interesting to you, please send us an email at info@lgw.org so we can save your spot and give you more details regarding the trip. If you are unable to go on the trip but would still like to help, donations towards the musical instruments and food are greatly appreciated! Please help us reach our goal of raising $1,000 by September 30th, 2019. These donations can provide students in disadvantaged communities with an opportunity to learn how to play a variety of instruments and help their families benefit from our hunger relief efforts. The link to our Crowdrise donation page is provided below. We can’t wait to hear from you!
