The Legion of Good Will (LGW) is a not-for-profit, educational and humanitarian civil society organization with general consultative status within the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. We have worked diligently for over 29 years within the United States to promote socio-educational and health programs, primarily in the New York and New Jersey area. Each year the LGW provides services to over 10 million children and families living in socially vulnerable situation. Its mission is to “Promote Education and Culture with Ecumenical Spirituality, so there may be Socio-environmental awareness, food, security, health, and work for everyone in the awakening of the Planetary Citizen.”
For this upcoming school year, the LGW is looking to expand one of its social and educational campaigns, Backpacks for a Bright Future, where we will distribute backpacks with school supplies to underprivileged children in the community. When students go into their first day of school with new school supplies they feel excited to write on a crisp new notebook with colorful new pencils. This motivation can relieve the stress that disadvantaged students face from social and economic risks, enabling them to learn.
In the season of back-to-school shopping it’s easy to get caught up in sales and savings, but it’s equally important to think of those that can share in the same rush as you.
This season, donate to the Backpacks for a Bright Future program and help students succeed by giving them the tools they need to excel in the classroom. Any donations in cash or school supplies can be the difference in any number of students lives, so we urge you to show the kindness in your heart and help.
