LGW and Partners Continue Distribution of Food Baskets in Newark, NJ
Emergency relief initiative aims to mitigate the social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and help families most at risk
To assist communities in need during the difficult period they face due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Legion of Good Will (LGW) is mobilizing its network of supporters to collect and distribute food baskets to families affected by the pandemic.

Following authorities' guidelines, many families had to leave their jobs to stop the spread of the virus. Without work and school, many of these families need help securing their daily meal.
The LGW has the support of several partners, including the supermarket chain Seabra's Market, which is an important reinforcement of food for the distribution of emergency baskets to families in the affected communities during the period of reclusion. It is not the first time that the two organizations join forces, as Seabra's Market is one of the main supporters of the LGW's Charity Round campaign, which distributes food weekly to residents of local shelters.

So far, the SOS Disaster Campaign has distributed over two hundred baskets to families in the community, which equates to more than four tons of food items such as rice, beans, pasta, tomato sauce, soup, oats, fruits and vegetables, among others. With the new partnership, the LGW hopes to distribute hundreds more in the coming weeks, in the United States alone.
This emergency relief initiative also takes place in six other countries that carry out the LGW local efforts - Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Portugal. Altogether, more than 150 tons of food and hygiene items have been distributed this far.
