The Legion of Good Will's Disaster Relief Campaign helped children and families affected by the hurricane.

Many neighborhoods have been devastated by the hurricane, causing extensive damages at homes, schools and businesses in East Houston, Texas.

Thousands of students from the Houston Independent School District, the largest in Texas, were affected by hurricane Harvey. Many schools had major damages that will keep them closed until next year. One of these schools, Hilliard Elementary had up to 5 feet of water when harvey struck; affecting the start of the new school year.

The Legion of Good Will found out about this situation and got in contact with Ms. Kaylaa Griffin, school social worker who connected the LGW with the principal of the school, Dr. Eldrick Moultry to coordinate the donation of backpacks full of school supplies. Thanks to the sponsorship of JetBlue Airways, it was possible to bring relief to kids of low-income families.

The LGW’s relief team flew to Houston and hand-delivered the backpacks carefully prepared by people of goodwill from New York and New Jersey.

Thanks to our volunteers and supporters we were able to deliver school supplies to students in Texas.
